Gorgeous views of the Pacific Coast from Malibu, California through roads with many twists and turns to the world famous motorcycle hangout, Rock Store. A motorcycle route of 11 Miles (18 KM) which can be done in about 23 minutes.

Start your motorcycle ride in Malibu, California located on the coast of Southern California along the Pacific Coast Highway. There are great sights to see in Malibu. Local residents and surfers have nicknamed the city "the bu". Signs located all around Malibu proclaim "27 miles of scenic beauty", referring to its original length of 27 miles of shoreline.

Malibu is famous for its abundant sandy beaches (albeit few of them public), and for Hollywood celebrity spotting. There's pretty much a guarantee you'll see a celebrity of some sort on this ride.

Cruising along the Pacific Coast Highway to the east we head to Latigo Canyon Road, an uphill ride starting at 14 meters above sea level all the way up to 620 m. Be careful this road is full of tight turns and short straightaways and several hairpins. We then continue onto Mulholland Highway heading downhill to the east. Known as The Snake, Mulholland Highway consists of an downhill ride with many left and right turns through the Santa Monica Mountains. The road changes elevation from 620m down to 280m and is an extremely challenging ride, so beginners should take it easy and watch out for more experienced riders passing. Some riders have been known to crash into guardrails after not anticipating a tight turn in time, or sideswiping others on the road. Police are known to stake out the Mulholland Highway often and hand out many tickets a day, so please observe the speed limit and watch out for those tight corners and slanted roads. Also look out for pedestrians taking pictures, bicyclists and for people riding in their sports cars.

We finish our ride at Rock Store located at 30354 Mulholland Highway, Cornell, California. Rock Store is a popular bike stop that is frequented by many who wish to inspect the many rides in the parking lot, share stories or have some nice eats.

The owners Ed & Vern (Veronica) stumbled across the original building in 1961, it was made entirely out of volcanic rock. The Rock Store is now "the hangout" in California for riders of all types. Frequented by many celebrities such as Harrison Ford, Matt Le Blanc, Tommy Lee and Arnold Schwarzenegger who you will often see eating with friends on the patio. Jay Leno has been known to show off his latest classic motorcycle to admirers and pose with fans for pictures.

The Wall Street Journal comments that the Rock Store is "A celebrity hangout, where Hollywood's motorcycle riders like to congregate" http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704250104575238321499351054.html MotorcycleUSA comments "panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and hilltop mansions, is unforgettable, and the motorcycle eye candy at the Rock Store especially on Sundays rivals many bike shows" http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/319/1531/Motorcycle-Article/Rock-Store-Star-studded-Hangout.aspx You can check out Rock Stores official website for more information http://www.rock-store.com/

The Bu through Mulholland Highway to the Rock Store is a challenging short ride that can easily turn into a day ride out. You'll likely meet some good people, hear a bunch of stories from fellow riders, have a snapshot or two taken with a celebrity and maybe even make some new friends. Enjoy the ride!

Yaow, the rear view camera video on Mulholland is impressive. I wonder how it compares to the Tail of the Dragon?
