Breathtaking vistas of Lake George and Schroon Lake located at the South- Eastern base of the Adirondack Mountains. Ride to Ticonderoga and then head to the top of Prospect Mountain. Complete this route in 101 miles (163 km) in about 2 hours.

Lake George, New York is a town of 1000 people in North-West New York State. Every summer, riders from all around flock to the home of the Americade motorcycle rally. Americade attracts 50,000+ riders and pillions for guided tours, tradeshows, parades, and charity events all motorcycle related, of course. It's a good place to make new friends and take in a lot of riding during the rally. Not going during the rally? That's ok because this frequently traveled bike route will show you what the Adirondacks are all about. One of the best times to ride is what people call 'Fall Colours' in autumn when the trees begin to change colors, the crowds come out to clog the roads.

Start your motorcycle ride along Lake Shore Drive (State Route 9N) North towards Ticonderoga. The road is full of curves, twisties and beautiful scenery all along the shores of Lake George and through several parks.

Next, head to Fort Ticonderoga, North of Lake George. The fort was built by the Canadians and French in 1754 during the Seven Years War and has historical importance in 18th century conflicts and the American Revolution.

From Fort Ticonderoga to Lake Schroon continue onto Highway 74 heading West. The road is steep, hilly and curvy as you go along the shores of Eagle and Paradox Lake. Merge onto US Route 9 heading South along the shores of Schroon Lake, this part of the road is not particularly curvy. Still on Route 9 go around Loon Lake and through Pack Demonstration Forest then head South back to Lake George.

Reaching the final stop at Prospect Mountain at a peak of 5.9 miles (9.5 km), go South onto Highway 9N and turn onto Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway. Note: once you reach the gate there's a $5 entrance fee and well worth it because the ride up Prospect Maintain is, very twisty with beautiful views of the area 100 miles into the distance.

Whether you are in Lake George for Americade or taking in the Adirondacks this 2 hour loop up Prospect Mountain is full of twisty roads, spectacular history and lakeshore riding. Definitely an unforgettable route. Enjoy the ride!
