From Arcata to Redding via Highway 299, California

This ride along Highway 299 features 140 miles of some of the best sweepers in California and goes through the imposing Redwood National Park. While riding the generous corners of Hwy 299 you’ll enjoy the scenic vistas of the dense vegetation around you and a portion of the road parallels the Trinity River for about 50 miles—the view is just amazing.

The motorcycle route starts at US Hwy 101 in Arcata, a city located 280 miles north of San Francisco, and goes eastbound along State Route 299 towards Redding. The road is in good shape and the portion between the coast and it’s a good combination of sweepers and tight corners. It is better to ride this route on weekdays as you will encounter fewer cars travelling.
