Amazing Cross Country Ride in Alberta

Nunavut, Canada

Here are a some of photos from an amazing cross country ride I did with a couple of friends near the the badlands of Alberta, east of Calgary. It was a very long day full of great riding, beautiful views and camaraderie. We even stopped by a very interesting 4500 year old archaeological site, the Majorville Medicine Wheel and finished up the day with an amazing, small town burger.

My friend will be putting some additional information and/or videos on his moto blog at www.wanduro.com soon.

@Jordan - Yet one more reason to come ride off road in Alberta

@Champers @Nick303 - I'm sure if we asked Nicely, Jordan would show us around -

@Jordan - Or maybe you want to trek down to Moab later this year? We were supposed to be going in a couple of weeks, fate conspired. Nick is still going but we hope to have a second trip later this year

It's definitely a beautiful part of the province, and very different from where we typically ride.  It was a long day in the saddle, arriving home after almost 12 hours and many off road kms.  Headed back there for a bit of back country camping in a few weeks.

Fabulous images. Bringing back great memories of the '70s, in my first year workin' seismic all over the Badlands. We worked down there all summer, based out of Hanna July-Aug '75 or '76, along the banks of the Red Deer River. We found teepee circles, arrowheads, what we thought were dinosaur eggs, lots of cacti -- some with sweet delicious fruits that turned to jello 15 min after being picked, many an angry rattler and lots of other strange animals and birds. Every step scared up a half-dozen giant grasshoppers -- they'd get in your shorts and face and hair. And it was hot as hell. But I loved that place. Something magical and spiritual about that ancient land... no trees for miles and miles, the abandoned farmhouses, the sloughs full of thick, green, gloopy water we had to wade across, carrying our 440ft-long breast-reels of 1/4-inch cable and multiple strings of geophones. Haven't been back there since.

Hey Jordan glad to see the arm is back to 100%. Looking forward to getting my hands on the Kawi when we make it out there this summer.
