The Lysebotnvegen or Lysebotn Road ("vegen" means road) is one of the world's most technical motorcycle rides. Located in the high mountains of Rogaland and Vest Agder in south-western Norway, the Lysebotnvegen's set of 32 hairpin turns is pure delight for the seasoned rider.

The road connects Sirdal with Lysebotn, nestled at the bottom of the impressive Lysefjord, an extremely popular tourist destination for its outstanding scenery.

The Lysebotnvegen is extremely narrow and the last section of this two-way road is considerably challenging, dropping over 800 m. within just a few kilometres. The surrounding scenery will certainly take your breath away but this road does require your full attention while riding—at some point you'll be at 932 m. above sea level.

One way to get to Lysebotn Road is by riding from Sirdal Valley. The road is not as twisty but it's incredibly scenic and makes a great warm up for the Lysebotnvegen. The Lysebotn Road is closed during winter and only open May-November, depending on the amount of snowfall.

I've often wondered if it is truly an enjoyable ride with an amazing view, or just a hell of a lot of work ... with an amazing view.
