Hayden Struggles to Go as Fast as a Superbike on his Ducati GP13
Ducati's MotoGP riders took to the Jerez racetrack today sharing the asphalt with the Alstare Ducati team and some other World Superbike regulars. Â It gave fans a rare chance to see grand prix and production based motorcycles on the track at the same time but the results weren't encouraging for Ducati.
Nicky Hayden might have posted the fastest GP time but he was just 3rd overall, almost 7/10ths off of Eugene Laverty on the <del>MotoGP</del> World Superbike Aprilia. Â Tom Sykes was second on the Kawasaki.
Nicky might be forgiven his lack of pace since he just began the test whilst the Superbike boys were on day three but Hayden was still within 3/10ths of his qualifying pace earlier this season.
Carlos Checa should probably be more even worried than Nicky. Â The 2011 champ also took to the track for the first time today but lapped the Ducati 1199 Panigale Superbike almost 3 seconds slower than Laverty. Â Testing for the Ducati squad continues till Friday. Â Must Go Faster!
