Carrs Lookout

scenic/reststop Spring Creek Road, Warwick, Queensland, Australia

If you're riding up to Queen Mary Falls, you should definitely take the time to stop at Carrs Lookout. An extended walkway has been built to take advantage of the view.

There, a sign board tells the history of a 1955 plane crash on Mt Superbus, the wreckage of which is still there, and a guide plate can be used to identify the peaks visible from the lookout. The Condamine River head waters are also visible, which runs on into the Murray-Darling river system.

Coming in from the north provides a glorious ride on bitumen or, if you're a dirt rider, there's an option for you, too. The narrow roads mean restrictions to heavy vehicles so, while you may come across a 4x4 from time to time, you won't get stuck behind trucks or caravans as you ride on up.

The picture will never do the view justice
