Ketchup Files: Ride to roads less travelled
Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada

Welcome to the Ketchup Files! These are for motorcycle experiences that took place a while ago but for one reason or another I didn't write up at the time.
Lunch Stop 2 Tweed
So buddy Noel and I finally, after negotiating days off and work responsibilities, managed to get in a day trip in. A far cry from an overnighter that we did last year.
Since we had some fun last season in the Haliburtons region of southern Ontario, I found some twisty roads on the map. You can never be sure what you will find but since finding decent motorcycling roads in Ontario involves travelling quite a distance from urban centres, you have to just go for it.
Ompah
Part of the trip is to get away from urban centres and getting a feeling for the province that exists beyond Toronto and the GTA. The province and its people are quite different outside of the three hour driving radius.
Hence route 509 up to Ompah - such a town name on the map just draws you. How many people actually seek out such a place? What a photo opportunity and an excuse for a ride! Not necessarily in order of priority...
Made it
Sometimes I have to remind buddy Noel to put the phone away - it's a hard habit to break. To be fair, I think it was work related - however I do make it a rule to resist checking the phone and enjoy the scenery and live in the moment. I haven't had to enforce the rule beyond a smack to the back of the helmet (kidding).
Hard Habit to Break
The delightful surprise was the ride from Hwy 7 to Flinton via route 29 - what a hoot!
It wouldn't be a real ride without being caught in a wicked thunderstorm on Hwy 401 back into Toronto. While caught in traffic.
When you ride you have to take the good with the bad.
Cheers!
