How NOT to Handle Road Rage

According to the rider, Rone Gonzaelz, his experience began with what he thought was an innocent act of filtering to the front of traffic stopped at a red light. In many areas, this act isn't legal, but it's not uncommon for motorcyclists.

That doesn't stop the act upsetting drivers, and in this case sparked a chain of events that could have resulted in serious injuries or even death for the rider.

Police will tell you the best way to handle a case of road rage is to remove yourself from the situation as best as possible. Taking alternate routes, or even just pulling off into a public spot with lots of witnesses and calling the police as needed.

In the rider's case, he admits he is an inexperienced rider and made the wrong decision to get into an argument with the driver, then get into a chase at high speeds with both individuals making risky maneuvers into oncoming traffic, and included the rider smacking the driver's mirror.

Incidents like this end with drivers viewing all motorcyclists negatively regardless of fault at best. At worst, someone gets hurt, jailed or killed.

Have to love the Police response of "don't bother" for attempted vehicular manslaughter.

I made the expensive decision to buy some action cameras to cover me after a similar situation happened last year to me.
I filtered through to the front at a set of lights (recently legalised in Queensland) and another driver took offense, passing me on the inside lane through a school zone.  At the next set of lights I filtered again and again she tail-gated me, then drove on the dirt to pass me on the inside.  The next set of lights, as I was approaching her from behind, she began to try to 'door' me - thinking I was going to pass her again.  I was actually going to explain that filtering was legal.

Still... these situations do get the blood boiling and the Red just takes hold.

Both people should lose their licenses for no less than a year. Both should be required to pass an anger management class. These idiots could have easily killed innocent people.
