Pay it forward

Oakville, Ontario, Canada

I'm a facebook member of the North American Biker Rescue group. Yesterday, I received my first chrome alert from a biker in distress. Finishing off my shower, I debated going by car or bike. For practical reasons of needing to pick up my wife, I went with the car otherwise this would have been a no brainer.

Upon arrival the bike was already cabled to a car and appeared to be running perfectly. When the ignition was switched off, the bike did not power up. Deader than the proverbial door nail.

Luckily Norbert and Jay, both battled hardened riders and the Mcgyvers of riders, were in the area. A tightening of a loose terminal and the bike found a second lease in life.

What was really inspiring was to read all the supportive posts from near and far. This is my kind of community - thoughtful, helpful, respectful.

I've posted Marisa's reply.

"Sorry for the lateness of this, I just wanted to take my time and express my gratitude properly. I wanted to thank everyone involved today helping me with my broken bike. As a new rider, a women and someone with a severe anxiety disorder, having my bike completely die on me was extremely upsetting for me. I have never broken down before and was not sure what to do, who to call or where to go. I'm am very grateful for the ad to this group (thanks Steve Mackey )and I'm completely humbled by everyone's efforts to come to my aid. It ended up being a very minor fix with the of the wonderful people that posted and helped guide me and trouble shoot the problem. Thank you Annmargaret Barker for posting this for me. I would have sat there in tears just trying to figure out where to even start. Thank you Warren Low Kum for coming quickly and keeping me company, calming my nerves and giving me a contact so I have an actual mechanic. Thank you Jay Nicholson for efforts in fixing my bike and riding with me to sure It was all good and a special thanks to Norbert Schroeder for bringing all the tools that I neglected to have, figuring out the problem and for driving me. I really don't know how to say how thankful I am that there are these thoughtful, selfless people out there that would create to the aid of a stranger in need. I hope somewhere down the road I can repay this act of kindness in some way. It was a very humbling experience and I am forever grateful that people like you are around to show that there are good people out there"

Before today we were three strangers. Not anymore.
