San Francisco Trip - The Beginning

Sooooo, I finally got some time to go over some of the pics from our trip! We took 11 days to go down (& back up) the West Coast of America with the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fran as our goal.

I must say, it was one humdinger of a trip ...In short, I'd describe it as the best & worst vacation I've had thus far lol ...but riding every day for 10 days was amazing! And we took a fair amount of pics which was a goal of mine ...yay!

So I figure the best way to document this grand adventure would be day by day ...so here's the bright beginnings 😉

That first morning was full of excitement! Got the bikes loaded up with the tail bags we purchased specifically for this long trip. Bikes are all tuned up, fresh oil & we're ready to roll! The sunny start just made it all complete.

We decided to take the Coquihalla hwy which was the most direct route to get to where we wanted to go the quickest ...it worked for us. It was a beautiful, fast-paced ride with none of the dangers often associated with this high elevation hwy. The return trip thru here was much more difficult but that's for another day haha.

By the time we reached Hope, we were ready for a break! We had a quick stop for gas in Kamloops but by Hope, the km count was up to 418 and the cramps were taking hold. I could barely get off my bike hahahaha.

Some ice cream and a nice long break later, I was ready to ride again 🙂

Next stop would be the US border! We got thru uneventfully and stopped a couple of blocks away to shed our layers. It had been a mere 13C when we left but it was now pretty hot. I was definitely questioning my decision to wear my leather jacket! I was thankful for it by the end, but on this first day I was really second guessing it!

From this point on we were constantly going back and forth over the Bluetooth communicators, "how fast is __ in kms/hr?" "Are you sure? You said it was this or that before!?!" 😛 ...We obviously did ok cause despite all the cops we saw down there, none stopped us hehe.

We continued on to Everett, WA before we quit for the night. It had been a long 9 hr day but we got the first 650 km out of the way & would hit the coast the next day. Of course we took the left side of the exit rather than the right side & had to do a huge loser lap to get to our hotel. Haha, I was POSITIVE we had to go that way XD ...but a nice big dinner, a beer & a bath later, it was decided it had been a great first day! 😉
