Long Way to Highlands, NC

Highlands is less than an hour from my house. This way takes twice as long, and I tend to scrape my boots on the ground, but it's my favorite way up. Chattooga Ridge Rd is mild. Warwoman out of Clayton is pastoral, until the eastern end, where its flawless black pavement winds tightly through a river valley. shoulders are generally mild and visibility through turns is good. This is my favorite 'secret' spot to get in some max lean time.
