The 2013 Zero DS has the second highest range in the Zero Motorcycle lineup. Rider's can travel upto 126 miles on a single charge. The Zero DS is an dual- sport electric bike in production since 2009. It's manufactured by American company Zero Motorcycles located in Santa Cruz, California.

Various reviews tout the DS as the best electric motorcycle on the market. Bike magazine claims ‟It is also the most fascinating, exciting and original bike I have ridden in many years and the one I'm most upset to hand back at the end of the test.” Wired claims ‟It's a go-anywhere moto perfect for exploring. Maintenance plan consists of keeping air in the tires.”

The Zero DS is powered by Z-Force 75-7 passive air-cooled, high efficiency radial flux permanent magnet brushless motors. The Lithium Ion batteries power a clutch-less direct drive belt and the motor outputs 68 ft lbs of torque.

The FX's equivalent fuel economy is 426 MPGe (0.55 L/100 km) in city riding. It can be purchased with a 8.5 kWh or a 11.4 kWh battery. The 8.5 kWh battery can output 54 hp and the charge can last 95 miles (153 km) of city riding. The 11.4 kWh battery can output 54 hp and the charge can last 126 miles (203 km) of city riding.

Standard 0-100% charge times range from 6 hours for the 8.5 kWh model to 7.9 hours for the 11.4 kWh model. Both batteries can also be charged in 1.5 hours at a CHAdeMO charge station. To find more information on CHAdeMO charging stations follow this link.

The seat height is 34.4 in (873 mm) and the curb weight is listed at 363 lbs (165 kg) for the 8.5 kWh model and 395 lbs (179 kg) for the 11.4 kWh model.

Available in either Green or Orange, prices in Canada and the United States start at $13,995 for the 8.5 kWh model and $15,995 for the 11.4 kWh model.
