SOAR Racing-Old Guys Strike Back in the Superbike Final

Starts: Aug 31, 2016 Ottawa, On, Canada

SOAR Road Racing at Grand Bend ON

There are several motorcycle road racing organizations that run races in Ontario. One of these is S.O.A.R. (Southern Ontario Associates of Racing). SOAR runs a variety of classes for both amateur and pro racers. Unlike the national series (CSBK), SOAR racers do not win money. They race for the pure enjoyment.

This past weekend, SOAR ran a full weekend program of races including the Sunday Superbike final. The superbike final race was one of the most memorable of the weekend and of the season so far. Normal entries to this race are the local series ‘regulars’. Some of these guys are fast and some are just stupid fast. This past Sunday, two long time Pro Riders came out to ‘play’. If you are a fan of Superbike Racing in Canada from the 1990s, you will know the names Frank Trombino and Jeff Sneyd. These old guys came out and challenged the “young guns” in the fastest class run during the weekend.

Frank Trombino and Jeff Sneyd both were likely racing when the regular ‘Young Guns’ (Will Hornblower, Luke and Dylan Bauer and David MacKay) were little kids. Frank Trombino won with a 7 second margin over Will Hornblower. Jeff Sneyd crashed out of the battle for first place but re-mounted to get 8th place.
