Marc Marquez: 2016 MotoGP World Champion

Compton, California, United States

Yesterday's Celebration

Yesterday's Celebration

With a race win at Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix at the Twin Ring Motegei GP Circuit, Repsol's number 93 rider became the 2016 MotoGP World Champion for the third time and with three races remaining in the season. Anyone who follows professional motorcycle racing knows who Marc Marquez is, and fan or not, you can't argue with the fact he's an incredible young rider. What most people don't know about the Spaniard is that he holds more than 70 world records for motorcycle racing. 71 to be exact but the prior statement is still true. Anyway, here's the list of the 23 year olds accomplishments (thus far). While some of his world records seem overly technical and seemingly small feats, his record list is littered with records beginning in the words "Youngest, Most, Only Rider to and Fastest". In addition, he shares many of his records with the likes of Max Biaggi, Casey Stoner and Giacomo Agostini. All credit due to his Wikipedia page for the record.
