@frencholive ,lol after posting I realized I probably went into a bit too much detail. No I'm not a mechanic, my background is mostly electronics with some mechanical understanding from being in the Navy. It also helps that I research things that interest me to an almost obsessive amount and can apply it well. I've been documenting everything I've done so far on my Instagram, same name as here @vintageyam. I started a YouTube channel ,same name, but it's barely in the beginning stages. I just actually uploaded my first videos a few days ago. It's very rough with no editing, just video from my phone.

@VintageYam Wow.  Thanks for elaborating.  That is seriously impressive.  And you're NOT a mechanic?  Do you have a series of photos as it comes together because I'm sure plenty of others would find your process interesting, inspiring and relatable.

@frencholive Thanks, YouTube and forums have been a lot of help rebuilding this bike. Also eBay has saved me tons of money. I'm on a tight budget so I was looking for something I could afford but in decent enough shape I could fix myself. I wanted a 2 stroke since they're relatively simple to work on and I found this on Craigslist and watched it for a while. Originally listed at $500 and lowered over time. I paid $150 for the bike. So far I've installed a ton of missing nuts and bolts, not sure how the previous owner lost them but oh well, I painted the tank, new rear shocks, painted the motor, all new controls, levers, cables, cleaned the carb, new air filter, and I'm in the process of making a new seat. I just made the new pan out of fiberglass a few days ago. After I got it running I noticed some piston slap so I'm gonna take the motor back out and take the head and cylinder off and put a new piston and rings in. I've purchased all the parts to make it street legal again now I'm just putting it together whenever I have any free time.

@VintageYam  Your first bike AND you're building it yourself?  That's impressive.  How did you settle on this, rather great bike?  Are these all your modifications, so far?
