Triumph Barbour Ladies Jacket

London, Ontario, Canada

I was lucky enough to win the Triumph Barbour Vintage jacket for my Lady from the last ESR riding challenge . It arrived shortly after Christmas and though she won't really get the chance to test it out, given the winter conditions in Ottawa, Canada, I thought that I would share our first impressions and some glamour shots of Lucille wearing her new jacket.

According to Triumph, the jacket is the first collaboration between Triumph and Barbour International and combines all of the technical features you expect from Triumph. These features include:

  • Waxed cotton outer
  • High density polyester internally at impact zones
  • Fixed Tri-Tex waterproof, windproof, and breathable lining
  • D30:registered: armor at shoulders, elbows, and back
  • Night reflective piping
  • Adjustable waist, hems, and cuffs
  • Short connection zipper to attach to all Triumph pants

At first glance I was very impressed with the quality of the jacket. It looks incredibly sturdy and has protection in all of the right places, including elbows, shoulders and back. The waxed cotton appears sturdy and we are confident that it will provide more than the necessary protection should the unthinkable happen and Lucille needs to take advantage of it.

Solid Protection

Lucille is a tall lady and she has long arms. We opted for the size large and she reports that the fit is comfy, leaving her enough room to put a sweater on underneath. She also likes the ways it can be adjusted including side zippers at the bottom and two adjustment snaps on the sleeves. The jacket also has a couple of zippered pockets in the chest area and large snapped and zippered pockets at the bottom front. Speaking of sleeves, Lucille did report that they could be a bit longer to accommodate her "Gogo Gadget" length arms.

Lucille, being a bit of a fashionista is also very happy with the stylishness of this jacket. She thinks she looks really cool in it and can see herself enjoying many a day's ride with it once all the snow melts. That being said, the jacket is a bit on the heavy side, with no removable liner. Combined with the lack of any meaningful ventilation it may be a tad warm once the weather gets hot. We will have to see how it performs in the heat of the summer.

All in all Lucille is happy with her jacket and can't wait to really test it out.
