Ducati to Auction HyperMotard 821 from Chips

Tomorrow one of the two 2016 Ducati HyperMotard 821's used in the upcoming motion picture 'CHiPs' will be put on auction on eBay.

The bike

The HyperMotard is fully decked out in CHP (California Highway Patrol) trim with the department's classic black and white paint-scheme, operational red and blue sirens and the CHP logo on the bike's sides and windscreen. The gas tank is signed by both stars of the film, Dax Shepard and Michael Pena and it also sports a (hopefully full) Termignoni exhaust. Aside from that the bike appears to be stock.

Though the modifications make the bike no longer street legal (it's illegal to have red and blue lights on a civilian vehicle, and sporting law enforcement logos may also not be ok), this auction clearly isn't aimed at riders looking for a practical purchase.

The charity

All proceeds from the auction will be donated to PATH, a charity that strives to end homelessness for families and individuals. Warner Brothers, Ducati and eBay have teamed up for this charitable endeavour. "There’s also an important mission behind this campaign, and we’re glad to be aligned with PATH and their dedication to alleviate homelessness", stated Jason Chinnock, CEO of Ducati North America.

Who can bid

The auction is open to all US, Canadian and Mexican residents over the age of 18. The bike will be delivered to the Ducati North America dealership closest to the auction winner.

March 24th release date

CHiPs rides into theaters on March 24th.

Having attended an advance screening I can confidently say the movie has a lot of great motorcycle action, and it certainly features quite a few amazing motorcycles of all kinds, including this 2016 Ducati HyperMotard 821.
