The Original 1954 MV Augusta

MV Agusta 175 CS Disco Volante (1954) - Red Patina Brantford, Ontario, Canada

This 1954 MV Augusta, 175cc single is owned by Paul Rostic in Ontario Canada. MVs from the 1950s never came to Canada so they are like the holy grail of 50's singles. The 175 MV was the biggest displacement bike MV built for the street. If you were a fan of Italian bikes, MV's were the bikes to own. Back then, they were the machine you wanted but could never afford.

Owning an Italian motorcycle was like being a card carrying member of a secret club. Back in the 80s, Italian bikes like Ducatis and MV Agustas were hard to come by, expensive, a royal pain to maintain but always brazenly beautiful. Gorgeous, yes, but Italian bikes were not as reliable as Japanese bikes. If you were going to carry the card, you were forced to pull up your sleeves and learn the mechanics of the machine.

You can keep your small displacement Honda cafe racer. I'd take this any day of the week
