Honda's new Neo-Sports Café Concept revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show is now production ready!
The new bike will take on the MT-10 and other European super naked for 2018.
Honda has unveiled the replacement for the aging CB1000R, sporting the Neo-Sports Café concept it had earlier showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show. The new bike is a radical departure from the previous machine in terms of design and sport a very modern take on the cafe-racer concept and it looks cool and sophisticated.
The new bike retains the same basic engine configuration, which is a liquid-cooled, DOHC, 998cc inline-four. But here some tweaks have been made to up the power by 20 hp to a full 145 hp at 10,500 rpm to produce 76.7 pound-feet of torque at 8,250 rpm. The new engine has been tuned to produce a flat torque curve to aid in rideability and performance. The engine delivers a ride-by-wire throttle that offers 4 riding modes (Standard, Sport, Rain, and User).
The new CB1000R is a radical departure from the previous generation motorcycle.
This new CBR1000R is mated to a revised gear box with 4% shorter gear ratios promising to improve throttle response and acceleration. All these features are mounted on to a steel backbone-type frame with a single sided swing-arm. Suspension is provided by Showa and braking duties are taken care of by 4 piston callipers grabbing on to 300 mm rotors. Let's ride!
