forgotten trails to Kolli hills

There was an old saying “ Most of my best memories comes from old and dirt roads” yes! True words!

Previously, i do had a same kinda experiences in various parts of south India they were unknowingly, but today was little different, purposely I had taken some extra miles to trail the forgotten route from kolli hills to Salem, which was ended somewhere near to Namagiripattai ( Rasipuram - Attur highway) in foothills.

The route was the oldest and mostly unfamiliar to the people, maybe because of its very bad road (actually there was no road) from foothills to kolli diversion road which is about 7kms.

Then, there comes a beautiful stretch’s with twisted and winded roads, which are well layed between the hills like the tunnels, it was such a pleasure ride to drive through these roads as they were planted with lavender flower trees and agro lands in between, such a wonderful combination of lavender & green throughout the way.

As the way, they look beautiful, it was also a dangerous one due to its narrowest stretches and sharp turns, in most places u don’t even have a place to settle when a bus or truck comes in from opposite, I was travelled around the route between 1600 hrs to 1800 hrs by that time I have encountered few wild bores and bulls inbetween the roads, which made me wait until they pass on and few off roading adventures bring down my avg speed to 25-30kms.

Overall it was such a memorable and an adventures experience, maybe next time I will try to start early morning by, or before the sun rises which will the wonderful time to explore those places.

Most of these roads are layed with tiles for longer life but those are also near to town areas.

In Some places there were no roads, as these routes were mostly used by locals only.
