Weekend Finds: 1966 Ducati, 1977 CB400 Café and a 1971 JAWA

When Jayson Dobson was a kid, he came across a barn bike... that's where it all started and the motorcycles addiction ensued. Now, a licensed motorcycle mechanic by trade, Jayson has started his own little café workshop in his Toronto garage.

1966 Ducati Monza

This 1966 Ducati 160cc Monza is gorgeous but it's not running. Jayson found it in a barn and added a custom red frame, new tires and a café seat. The body work is original and so is the gas tank. If you think you can get it running, it's for sale.

JAWA 1971 350cc

The 1971 Jawa Oilmaster was also a barn find. The bike was made in the Czech Republic and is an air-cooled, oil injected 2-stroke; it's the most sought after Jawa model. Jayson's Jawa motor is currently in pieces and would make one project bike for someone who's got a lot of time. If you're interested, it's for sale for $800 CAN.

This machine can be made street-legal and the ‟Oilmaster” system makes riding a 2-stroke manageable. It delivers metered oil into the carburetors by a throttle-controlled pump. The system means the engine won't run above idle, and in so doing, avoiding catastrophic damage from oil starvation. To add to the cool factor, the gear shift presses in and the lever transforms into the kick-starter.

Honda CB400, 1977

The CB400 is Jayson's baby. We're told, it's not for sale. The bike was another barn find. It was running when Jayson found it. He tore it to the frame to cut as much weight off the bike possible. As a result, there's no battery. The big fenders are gone and the the air-induction was taken out and replaced with 4 individual carburator air-filters that now manage cooling. A special touch is a 1970's Bosh headlight swapped off an old Jawa.
