2011 Nurburgring World Superbike QP2 Results: Checa Takes Provisional Pole

Carlos Checa has taken provisional pole ahead of this afternoon's Superpole session for the World Superbike class at the Nurburgring. The Spaniard was nearly four tenths faster than the 2nd place man Eugene Laverty, while Pata Aprilia's Nori Haga set the 3rd fastest time. Max Biaggi had the 4th overall time from both QP1 and QP2, but an injury picked up yesterday - when a stone hit is foot, breaking a bone and injurying his ankle - meant he was unable to improve his time, lapping a second slower than Checa. Superpole could be a struggle for the championship contender and reigning world champion.
