Absolute Blast Up and Around

Talk about a crazy ride North and around central Ontario with a visit to the Village of St. Jacobs. A historical destination along the Conestoga River, it's known for its dozens of independent, one-of-a-kind shops and sidewalk restaurants in a pastoral setting. Rail fans will want to check out the model railway or ride the rails between the farmers market and Woolrich. There are are also 80 KMs of river trails to walk along the Conestoga and Grand Rivers including about 20 bird trails. Watch out for horse and buggies!

Did this one yesterday (June 22, 2019). A couple of things to watch for in the step by step instructions - Item 7 & 8 - Sixth Line is closed south of Burnamthorpe; just turn right where it is closed and Trafalgar is the next major street to turn left on.

  • #78 - Lost Mile Road - a lot of gravel with no hint of it being paved anytime soon

  • #81 - Carluke comes to a T intersection; turn right to get to Upper James

  • #88 - After you get onto 403 W ramp the highway splits eventually so it is at that point that you take 403 east.

Overall an interesting ride but there was so many places with very slow speeds through subdivisions and weekend traffic that I don't know how ESR possibly did it in 4 1/2 hours (legally!) It took me over 6 and that was with one 20 minute break.
