Today's want - A motorcycle small enough to fit in the back of a Lada
"Motorcycle in a suitcase"
Russia, they may have a questionable foreign policy these days, but one thing we cannot debate is Russian engineering chops.
This video shows an incredibly interesting machine - small enough to fit in the back of a Lada when disassembled, two-wheel drive so it can go anywhere and light enough to be physically picked up when the going gets tough. I dare say it wont go very fast, but it will go just about anywhere as the rider in this video demonstrates.
Beyond that, there's not much I can say. The main thing I'm looking for is when and from where I can buy one.
About the maker
I did mange to find a Russian forum with a statement from maker, Alexander Zinin. He appears to be a military man who designed the motorcycle for manoeuvring the forest. It weighs 55 kg wet and 47 kg dry "so the average person could, if necessary, pull it from any ambush".
Zinin says, the machine was built for maximum reliability and maintainability "under Russian realities". It also seems that the fact that the bike can be packed in two bags was somewhat of an accident. Essentially he wanted to be able to take this machine by train, by bus, by plane or in the trunk of any car, for a romp in any Russian the forest.
Here are the specs:
