This is an old photo of Steve Jobs riding a 1966 BMW, not sure what the model was. The photo ran in a 1982 National Geographic article titled "High Tech, High Risk, and High Life in Silicon Valley". I tried to find it on NG's website but it's no longer available.
Steve Jobs was born in 1955 and died yesterday, October 5th, 2011. Jobs died of a proliferation of pancreatic cancer - the same took my father's life in 2002. My dad was an early fan of Apple and got me hooked. Our first computer was a Commodore 64 but it was all Apple from there on in.
My dad also loved motorcycles and he got me hooked on those too. In Kiev, before we emigrated, he had a Russian motorbike, but no one in the family seems to know what it was exactly and no photos survived. It was likely an IMZ-Ural but I don't remember any talk about a sidecar.
Well - so long Steve Jobs, I hope you enjoy the ride. And if you see my dad, let him borrow your motorbike!
