The construction of the new Autoroute-30 linking the 401 to Quebec City started in the 1960s - it's the main artery connecting the communities along the South Shore of the St. Lawrence River.

The road finally opened in December 2012. There's a $2.00 toll both ways and it's worth it. This route is the fastest and easiest route from Toronto to Quebec City.

It's not too pretty but it's easy and fast and there's a number of good rest stops along the way.

In the past, traversing East across Canada, the biggest traffic nightmare was always getting around Montreal! Hours sitting on the bike in traffic was no good. But now with the new Autoroute 30, you by-pass the bridges and the island of Montreal all together.

From Quebec City it's easy access to the Gaspé.
