Her vision, herself. Toni Sharpless embodies the mandate of her Super Sonic Road Race School: an enthusiastic expert racer who is dedicated to sharing her love and appreciation for the sport of motorcycle racing at the highest level.

But before you read more about it, watch this quick video of Toni Sharpless and her fast friends leaning their way around the Super Sonic Road Race School track.
Super Sonic Mini Moto Series1 E1 Meet Toni
The goal of Super Sonic is two-fold: augment the support base for road racing by introducing more people to the sport and develop young racers to represent Canada at international events. After experiencing the kind of motorcycle culture in Asia and Europe that sends countless qualified racers to top-tier events around the world, Toni Sharpless decided it was time to offer the same access to tracks and training closer to home: “Our mission at the Super Sonic Road Racing School is to provide a fun and safe introduction to Road Racing motorcycles for all ages and experience levels with a clear aim to give rise to future Canadian Champions competing internationally at the highest level.”
Safe and Super Sonic
Kids from “5 to 95” (or more) years of age are introduced to riding or racing on either Ohvale mini-GP bikes or Yamaha TTR-based supermoto machines. The concept is that anyone who is new to the sport will improve their skills more effectively by first learning “the science of cornering and dragging your knee on the pavement, braking techniques, race lines and strategies” on smaller, lighter machines with (relatively) similar capabilities to the weightier, more powerful models. Even veteran road racers can benefit from a day of fun, fine-tuning their craft.
Victory smiles
Want to try it out? No problem. The school offers a variety of courses. Start with one-off introductory skills classes like “Conquer Corners,” “Learn To Lean,” and “Road Race 101” before committing to the comprehensive program for members that is designed to fully prepare riders for the mini-bike circuit.
While you dream of entering the bigger leagues, there are two races that any age racer can consider: the Canadian Mini Superbike Championship Series; MiniSBK, and the Ohvale Cup, open to anyone who wants to race mini-motos and has gotten their CMSBK race license. And if you have a young talent on your team who doesn’t want to compete against the adult you, they can enter the Super Sonic Canadian Talent Cup (SSCTC). This race is designated for riders between the ages of 7-14, on Ohvale GP-O 110 and GP-O 160 bikes provided by the school’s “Arrive-N-Ride” program.
never too big to drag a knee
In addition, and as part of her commitment to supporting high-level track competitions, Super Sonic Road Racing School is the new title sponsor for Amateur Lightweight Sport Bike Canadian National at races in 2021. Let’s hope there will be a season.
So, while we wait for summer to arrive, add “go drag a knee with Toni” to your calendar of activities. The Super Sonic team is waiting.
