2024 MotoGP Championship Series Rolls into the Lone Star State

The MotoGP spotlight shines on Texas this weekend with round three of the 2024 season at Circuit of the Americas in Austin.
After races in Qatar and Portugal to start the season, the MotoGP circus makes its lone North American appearance in the Lone Star state.
Jorge Martin, Prima Pramac Racing, won the Sprint race in Qatar while defending champ Pecco Bagnaia, Ducati Lenovo Team, won the main race on Sunday and Martin finished third behind Brad Binder of Red Bull KTM.
Round two in Portugal saw Maverick Vinales, Aprilia, win the Sprint race while Martin won Sunday's race on his Ducati, Enea Bastianini, Ducati Team Lenovo was second and Pedro Acosta was third for the Red Bull GasGas team which was the team's first podium finish. Bagnaia crashed and will be looking for redemption this weekend.
After those two rounds, Martin leads the 2024 championship standings with 60 points. Binder is second with 42 points while Bastianini is in third with 39 points, just two points ahead of Bagnaia. Acosta has 28 points to round out the top five.
Practice is today in Austin, with the Sprint race on Saturday and the 20-lap main race on Sunday.
Round four of the 2024 season is April 26 to 28 in Jerez, Spain.
In WorldSBK action, the reigning WorldSSP champ, Nicolo Bulega of Aruba.it Racing - Ducati, sits atop the championship points standings with 87 points. which is 12 points ahead of teammate and Defending WorldSBK champion Alvaro Bautista, who is Bulega's teammate, and Alex Lowes of Kawasaki Racing Team both have 75 points while Rokit BMW Motorrad's Toprak Razbatliogu is fourth with 71 points.
Lowes won the Sprint race and Race 2 in Phillip Island, Australia to start the season while Bulega won Race 1.
The second round, in Spain, saw Razbatliogu win the Sprint race and Race 1 while Bautista claimed Race 2.
Round three is next weekend in Assen for the Dutch TT and Bulega hopes to be back in action following arm surgery.
