Leaf Peeping In The Muskokas

Distance: 124.5 Km / 77.6 Mi Duration: 02:05:06

This was the ride that basically closed out the season for me. I've started this route from Gravenhurst, there are a few different ways to get there depending where you're coming from. I went looking for a cottage I used to go to as a kid on Walkers Point Road and Barlochen Road, which was beautiful and features some nice quiet twisties. I shot some good GoPro footage on my way through there. Then I came down into Bala, the Cranberry Capital of Canada, and headed up to Port Carling for lunch.

My plan was ato head up Peninsula Road to Rosseau and then loop back around, either on 400 down toward Toronto, or back into Bracebridge. As luck had it, I missed the turn and instead wound up in Windermere before heading around to close the loop.

For those not from the area, Muskoka is the home of a lot of very, very posh cottages (summer homes), and it is a beautiful place.

Southwood is definitely a must-ride.

This is just about in my backyard at the cottage, but there's some roads I've not tried. Like you say, that's one of my summer days planned now

You missed rte 13 - Southwood Rd from just south of Bala to just north of Port Severn- well-worth the ride - there's one for your list this summer...
