Mercer Island Wake Up Call

I have dubbed this ride the "Wake Up Call" as I set out just before 7 AM and the Cobra 2-1 pipes are obnoxiously loud. I haven't gotten much saddle time in the V-Star other than commuting to work so I wanted to take her out to see how she handled. Mercer Way provided the perfect setting for this.

Mercer Way is a residential road lined by million dollar+ mansions that winds around the island. The 25-30 MPH speed limit keeps things relatively calm, but as I observed many fancy European luxury and sports cars back out of hidden driveway at seemingly freeway speeds, an open throttle may not be the best idea.

The low speed limit would make this an ideal route for a novice rider, or intermediate rider with a new bike, to begin getting more intimate with the way their bike and the roads dance together. Rolling the throttle through the turns was smooth and only a couple of times did my sport riding show through and I may have taken a turn or two faster than the V-Star foot pegs were comfortable with.

All in all a nice ride that I will surely ride again, maybe at a time more preferable to the residents. Mercer Island does have a few coffee shops, restaurants, and parks to provide amenities if needed.
