McKenzie Pass, OR-242
Oregon Route 242 is also known as McKenzie Pass on the McKenzie Highway that runs from Sisters to Belknap Springs. This technical motorcycle route is only 36.2 miles (58.26 km) of twisties and beautiful sceneries. Considered such a great road it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. It's worth mentioning the road is in great condition and rarely transited.
Sisters, Oregon is a good starting spot that offers an astonishing view of volcanic peaks such as the Three Sisters, Mount Washington and Broken Top.
When you reach the summit of McKenzie Pass (15 miles west of Sisters) make sure to stop at the Dee Wright Observatory, an open-shelter structure in the Cascade Mountains built with lava stone, that offers an exceptional view of the Cascade peaks.

I do this ride at least once a year. Â I prefer to ride to the west (uphill)... the curves are much more fun that way. Â Still have to be careful in some of the corners, as there can be gravel. Â And of course the usual slowpokes in Priuses and Subaru Outbacks.

There is so much awesome riding in WA and Oregon. Love living in the area.

This is a great ride! Â Keep a sharp eye out for gravel in the corners dragged off the shoulder by motorhomes.
