ROUTE 66: America's Most Famous Road
Distance: 3458.9 Km / 2155.1 Mi Duration: 31:50:58
Known as "The Mother Road", Route 66 is over 2000 miles long and was established in 1926. It has gone through various changes through out the years and technically doesn't exist anymore as it was officially removed from the United States Highway System in 1985. But that doesn't matter to riders. It will still be ridden and will probably always be referred to as "Route 66". It is one of the most famous roads in America and runs from Chicago, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before ending at Los Angeles, California. This is the way to experience America.

I travelled part of Route 66 last year on my Harley (the only way to travel on rte 66) during a return trip from Las Vegas. I picked it up in Kingman AZ and followed the route all the way to Springfield MO. While it is very hard to find the original alignment in many places you can still experience travelling the way it was done in the 50's and 60's by stopping in many of the old towns and seeing many of the old attractions such as Cadillac Ranch, Winslow AZ (from the song by the Eagles) and Tumuncari NM, the Midway Cafe...... A truly epic rider he every motorcyclist should do at least once in their life. I wanna go back!
