Anyone who has ridden a motorcycle through South Dakota will tell you the Spearfish Canyon is a sight you want to see. The streams that run alongside the road, caves, and the historical landmarks you will encounter on the way add to the amazing scenery.

One historical landmark you won't want to miss is the town of Deadwood. Back in 1870 Colonel George Armstrong Custer announced he had discovered gold in the creeks near what is now Custer, SD. The announcement triggered the Black Hills Gold Rush and led to the illegal settlement of Deadwood, which became a lawless town. Still today, the town's historic district maintains that outlaw charm

Other notable things to see on this route include Spearfish Falls, Cheyenne Crossing, and of course the spectacular views.
