Air-Powered Motorcycle Prototype - The O2 Pursuit

While electric motos are certainly the focus these days for non ICE alternatives to hauling our asses around in the most fun way imaginable, here comes another option... Air Power! Enter the 02 Pursuit, fueled by a conventional scuba-diving tank.

Still in the prototype stage, the Pursuit is being developed by Melbourne designer Dean Benstead based around the "Engineair" technology developed by fellow Melbourner, Angelo Di Pietro. The Di Pietro Motor is a rotary-piston design that uses far less parts than a conventional motor, can deliver instant torque and provides a friction-free environment for the piston to turn by cushioning it with air. I'm certainly intrigued by this. The designer is claiming to be close to current electrics in terms of performance, but with a quicker "re-fuel" time and no battery waste at the end.

Strange about the video link. Try this: http://media.theage.com.au/cars/car-news/motorbike-that-runs-on-air-2797531.html -- Unfortunately I don't think a conventional compressor at a gas station puts out enough pressure to properly fill one of these tanks... but you've got the right idea there if a solution to allow that can be reached!

Damn video goes to some article about about 4 wheel drive mercedes... Other than that, this is super cool. You could probably flll up at the tire compressor at any gas station - not bad for about a buck a go...
