Comparing motorcycle use around the world

Found this wonderful infographic yesterday that compares car and motorcycle use for just about every country in the world. Granted, the data is for 2002 but I dare say it won't have changed too much in the interim.

It's been a long time since I did high school geopgraphy, but it looks to me that "poorer" countries use more bikes. It's not really a surprise, and it would be good to find the data to see if that's really the case but one thing's clear: In the "west" we don't see motorcycles as our go-to transport.
