CSBK Round 4 - Mont-Tremblant - Sunday Race 2

It rained again overnight, but it seems to be have stopped by the riders meeting at 8:15. Again, the weather is dominant, though slightly less pressing now that yesterday was partially dry. At least everyone showed up this morning.

As usual on a Sunday morning, it's tire swap time, at least for those of us that didn't change for qualifying yesterday. The damp track does not bode well for this and I'm wondering if I made a mistake. However, back at the Honda tent, I get a surprise from Eric. My tires were exchanged for Bertrand Gahel's from yesterday as he is not riding today. This means they were already scrubbed and I don't have to worry so much. Awesome!

Practice is short as usual, but the track appears to be drying at least. Five full laps is enough to bring up a sweat and rebuild some of the confidence I lost last night as I was replaying my crash in my head while I slept. I guess I shouldn't read the weather report before sleep next time.

About 2:30 or so, we're waved out for our warm up lap. The weather is very curious. Sunshine is threatened by looming clouds and while we're starting dry, we might end up wet. Very wet.

As the lights go out, the start goes more or less as yesterdays did. In other words, average at best. Connor again manages to sneak ahead, but this time he's got more fight in him. I manage to keep up with him for about a lap before he starts to move away. By the end of lap four, he's gone and with Matt Chandler nowhere behind me, it's just me against the clock again and I settle into a rhythm with the track. Jodi took me out again earlier and it helped with the lines on a couple of corners. While I don't manage to pass anyone today, it does show in my laptimes - I've managed to shave 3 seconds of my best lap from yesterday to manage a 2:30. OK. It's not great. It's not even really good, but it shows I am at least improving during the weekend.

After the flag, thoughts start to turn to Mosport in two weeks and I'm starting to wish there's a way I could do an entire week of trackdays beforehand...
