Motorcycle fatalities down in the UK in 2012

United Kingdom

Great news for UK riders. Apparently, motorcycle fatalities decreased by 9% when comparing 2012 to 2011. Fatalities fell from 362 to 328, while serious injuries also feel 5%.

The downside is that overall motorcycle ridership fell by 2% during the same period.

It's possible part of this trend is that the worst riders are migrating to bicycles. In the same period, cycling accidents rose 10%.

Less of this in 2012, at least in the UK

There's no word on the US stats at this point.

Sadly, there's more of these in 2012 in the UK

Maybe the new A2 licensing is playing it's part and putting out better trained riders? If so, it will be interesting to see if North America will follow a similar trend. Somehow, I doubt it.

Until then, there's always CrashLight
