SENA S3-W

Christie Downs, Australia

SENA 3S-W

After much deliberation I decided to dip my toe into the helmet coms market and splash out on a SENA3S-W entry level Bluetooth wired set up.

The low pice was the deciding factor being around $100US and at the time a little over $140AU (that and the fact that I was sick and tired of trying the use earbuds with my LS2 lid). The 8 hour talk/music time, the 10 day standby and the slim design also sealed the deal for me.

Fitting the unit was simple enough with most of the unit being in the speakers, though they are a little bulky they seemed to fit snugly into the ear wells of my already snug LS2 lid.

All in all I've found the 3S-W to be a great little all around unit, given it is limited to two Bluetooth connections, so your phone and another rider and the distance is quite limited too. I'd say more aimed at rider and pillion communication with 140 yards (100 meters give or take). The sound quality is decent and the battery life exceptional, paired with my iPhone resting on the tried and true RAM X-grip it's given me a whole new aspect on riding.

I love it, the interface is easy and even though it doesn't have radio and voice commands it does answer calls with the 'hello' command, 'hey Siri' works occasionally and the phone is crystal clear even over wind noise. (The LS2 Carbon isn't the quietest lid).

For anyone interested in this entry level unit I can't recommend it enough, easy to install, easy to use and perfect for music, phone and GPS.

From here it's either the go whole hog and buy a Skully for a fully immersive experience or a SENA MH10-R once they legalise ECE in my state.

An extremely low profile unit.
